Water Supply Development
ASR Systems (Aquifer Storage and Recovery Systems)
In order to maximize available water resources, many municipalities are evaluating basins available for potential recharge. To successfully implement an ASR program, an integrated approach entailing water resource management, hydrology, wetlands, and water resource engineering is necessary. GeoTrans has experience in conducting ASR projects focusing on:
- Inventorying existing water supply systems identifying resource and recharge/discharge areas, and coordinating the use of both ground and surface water resources
- Taking maximum advantage of previous studies, historical data, and information
- Using a combination of geographical information systems (GIS), database, and CAD tools to manage information necessary for evaluating and developing alternatives to increase recharge capacity. These important technical skills provide clients a consistent, visual interface for program data related to groundwater, wetlands, and water supply
- Using numerical simulation models as aids in planning and interpreting field tests and evaluating recharge scenarios under different water resource development alternatives
- Applying our expertise and experience in developing graphical material presentations to enhance program understanding and maximize stakeholder involvement
