Water Supply Development
Water Resource Evaluation & Planning
-
GeoTrans has been providing water resource services for over 20 years, having developed over 500 water supplies for municipalities, industries, and mining operations in geologic environments ranging from shallow alluvial basins to fractured rock aquifers extending to depths of 2,500 feet. Key to designing a successful long-term management plan is evaluating the potential for the development of a water supply and assessing possible impact to existing water supplies.
In conducting over 1,000 water resource evaluations, we have provided technical services that range in scope from reconnaissance surveys of the geology, geophysics and surface/groundwater resources of an area, to the development of complex, three-dimensional numerical models to analyze the interaction of groundwater withdrawal and recharge in a aquifer system. Our specific expertise includes:
- Assessing the feasibility of water supply development, anticipated range of well yield, and potential aquifer impacts
- Exploring and testing programs, including the use of downhole, surface and remote sensing geophysical techniques to identify hydrogeologic and water quality characteristics
- Evaluating the potential for saline water (or other poor quality water) to migrate toward supply wells under different pumping schedules
- Developing conjunctive use programs for maximizing resources
- Water resource records search, preparation and tracking of applications, agency interaction, and advocacy for acquisition of water rights
