Download Instruction for MODMAN 4.0 and Preprocessor (For MS-Windows Computers) Please Note The Following ========================= MODMAN is distributed for free, with little or no technical support. Customized training and/or assistance with problem setup can be arranged on a consultation basis by contacting: Rob Greenwald GeoTrans 2 Paragon Way Freehold, New Jersey 07728 732-409-3020 (fax) 732-409-0344 (phone) rgreenwald@geotransinc.com Documentation ============= MODMAN documentation (DOC-MM.PDF) and the preprocessor documentation (DOC-PP.PDF) can be downloaded from: www.geotransinc.com -> codes -> modman MODMAN code: ============ All files are contained in zip file MM40.ZIP, created with WINZIP 7.0. (1) Download MM40.ZIP into its own directory (2) Unzip the file using WINZIP -> extract. Make sure to select option "Use Folder Names"...this will preserve the directory structure by creating directory MODMAN40, with the following files/subdirectories: MODMAN40.EXE: MODMAN executable file SRC: Directory with MODMAN source code SAMP-1: Directory with I/O for sample 1 SAMP-2A: Directory withI/O for sample 2A SAMP-2B: Directory withI/O for sample 2B SAMP-3: Directory withI/O for sample 3 MODMAN.EXE is precompiled with the Lahey-90 Fortran Compiler. It is compiled with the AUTOMAKE routine for that compiler. The AUTOMAKE files are included in the SRC directory. This executable uses allocatable dimensions for MODFLOW, so MODFLOW problem dimensions should not be cause to recompile. This executable can handle moderate-sized MODMAN problems. It is sized for the following dimensions: NUMBER OF TOTAL WELLS 500 NUMBER OF MANAGED WELLS 100 NUMBER OF CONTROL LOCATIONS 250 NUMBER OF STRESS PERIODS 24 NUMBER OF HEAD CONSTRAINTS 250 NUMBER OF HEAD DIFF. CONSTRAINTS 250 NUMBER OF DRAWDOWN CONSTRAINTS 250 NUMBER OF GRADIENT CONSTRAINTS 250 NUMBER OF VELOCITY CONSTRAINTS 250 NUMBER OF RELATIVE GRADIENT CONSTRAINTS 250 NUMBER OF BALANCE CONSTRAINTS 100 NUMBER OF INTEGER CONSTRAINTS 100 NUMBER OF LINDO VARIABLES ALLOWED 500 NUMBER OF WELLS IN TYPE C BALANCE CONST. 1000 To solve larger problems, the MODMAN code will need to be recompiled (you have been given the source code, but you will need a fortran compiler to do this). Recompile instructions are provided in the documentation (section 4.1.2). Preprocessor Files ================== All files are contained in zip file PREPROC.ZIP, created with WINZIP 7.0. (1) Download PREPROC.ZIP into its own directory (2) Unzip the file using WINZIP -> extract. This will extract a set of files, including SETUP.EXE (3) To install the preprocessor, run SETUP.EXE from WINDOWS using the RUN command. It will ask you for a directory for installation (we sugest c:\mmpp10) (4) A file called MMPP10.EXE will be placed in the directory name you specified. Execute this file from WINDOWS to run the preprocessor. Within windows, create a shortcut to that executable to create an icon on your desktop for running the preprocessor. Downloading LINDO trial version for Sample Problems =================================================== (1) Go to www.lindo.com (2) Follow instructions to download LINDO demo (currently version 6.1) This will place an .EXE file into the directory you specify. (e.g., lnd61.exe) (3) Run the downloaded executable from windows using the RUN command. It will ask you for a directory name to install lindo (we suggest c:\LINDO\), and then it will install LINDO.
