Management Systems Development, Implementation & Integration
GeoTrans has developed and applied GIS applications to enable the visualization of site data for interpretation, presentation, and analysis in a user-friendly format suitable for dissemination to audiences ranging from technical staff and regulators to community groups and other involved stakeholders. GIS has been used to manage data resulting from all aspects of site investigation and remediation activities at sites. Key aspects includes:
- GIS can be linked with commercially available database software that enables transcribing and posting environmental data to site maps and other presentation formats
- Integration of environmental models to predict flow and transport mechanisms with GIS products (e.g., Intergraph, Microstation, ESRI's ARC/INFO, and MAPINFO) allowing modeling and predicting environmental conditions at sites
- GIS applications that address specific data management needs and brings together the technologies of computer-aided design (CAD) and database management
GeoTrans has used GIS to integrate site data collection with graphical displays at RCRA and CERCLA sites, perform solute transport modeling to assist in risk assessments, and evaluate remedial alternatives.
