Sustainability
Metrics Evaluation and Improvement
It is widely recognized that organizations manage what they measure, and the need to carefully define and measure progress is especially prominent when pursuing as ambitious (and in some cases, as misunderstood) an agenda as sustainability. To respond to this need, GeoTrans helps customer organizations to define, populate, communicate, and continually improve measures of environmental (or EHS), economic, and social equity performance. In our experience, well-crafted performance metrics often aid in continually identifying opportunities for further improvement, document progress and trends over time, and help further integrate the sustainability concept and related behaviors into and raise credibility within core business processes and management teams. More specifically, sound sustainability metrics yield the following outcomes:
- More clear linkages between EH&S, social equity, and financial endpoints
- Improved basis for managerial decision making
- Enhanced process control
- Alignment of individual and company goals
- Improved distribution and personal ownership of sustainability goals and performance
